Dan Mailman
I am a retired Founder and CTO, now working as a computer scientist, adjunct faculty member, and PhD student at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. My academic and professional work centers on machine translation, natural language processing, and high-performance computing.
I bring a unique blend of industry leadership and research-driven innovation to every project. Through my hobby corporation, Studio MindStride, I launch ventures that fuse my technical expertise with personal passions. These include:
Language Genies, which develops multilingual input methods to support global communication.
Gear Genies, which designs specialized outdoor equipment for explorers, cyclists, and sailors.
My current academic efforts include:
Developing software engineering curricula to empower underserved and refugee communities through tech-enabled entrepreneurship.
Advancing a long-term research initiative - Neuro-Plausible Machine Translation - explores biologically inspired, high-performance models for complex language tasks.
Outside the lab, I enjoy camping, traveling, and exploring the world by bicycle or small sail/row boat.
If you’re interested in collaborating on a research project, educational initiative, or product development effort, please feel free to reach out. I welcome new connections and opportunities.
